Application improvement

Add the features your users need and improve the software your team already depends on.

What we can build together

I work in existing applications to add features, improve difficult workflows and fix unreliable integrations. We start with the problem users are encountering and the parts of the system it affects.

Changes can span the interface, backend and deployment. I work with your existing conventions and release process, with checks for the behavior your users already rely on.

This is a useful starting point if…

  • A useful feature is blocked by work across several parts of the application.
  • Users struggle with a workflow or cannot recover from common errors.
  • You need to connect another system or improve a fragile integration.

The scope we agree

What the engagement can include

Assessment and implementation plan

A review of the affected screens and code, with a proposed solution, dependencies and clear criteria for completion.

Feature and workflow improvements

The interface, API, data and integration changes needed to deliver the agreed result within your existing application.

Testing and release support

Checks of affected workflows, a demonstration of the change and release instructions, including data migration steps where needed.

How I work

Progress you can review

  1. Understand the current problem

We walk through a specific example, review the relevant code and establish how we will judge the improvement.

  2. Agree and build the change

I propose the work needed, identify dependencies and demonstrate progress in the existing application.

  3. Test and prepare the release

Check the changed workflow and related features, then document the rollout and any follow-up work.

  4. Support and improve (optional)

Maintenance, fixes and further feature work beyond the agreed release can continue as a separately scoped engagement.

To get started, I need access to the relevant code, setup instructions and an example of the problem or requested feature. We agree the scope, timeline and cost after the review. Ongoing support is optional additional work, with its own scope, cost and terms.

Before we start

Will you work in our existing codebase?

Yes. I follow its conventions, tests and release process. Any wider changes are discussed with you before they become part of the work.

Can you help with a slow or unreliable workflow?

Yes. We establish a baseline and agree measurable improvement goals, then investigate the cause and test changes against those goals.

Does every improvement need a redesign?

No. The right change may be a clearer interface, better error recovery or a more reliable integration. We choose the scope based on the problem.

Can you stay involved after this release?

Yes. Maintenance, fixes and new features beyond the agreed project are available as an additional engagement, not included by default. We can agree that separate scope and cost at the start or after handover.
